Marketing & Communications Intern SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Intern provides quality support with various department projects. The department is looking for a person with a passion to make a difference and share their marketing and communications talent. This learning opportunity is for undergraduate or graduate students who are seeking experience and an internship learning opportunity. This unpaid internship learning opportunity may count toward academic credit. The internship is to last for a 12-week period. Hours are flexible, 15-20 hours per week. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Grad level student. Possible majors: Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Journalism, or General Business Administration. Some general office experience is helpful. LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic mathematical skills. Ability to calculate figures and analyze information. REASONING ABILITY Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to organize and stay focused on work. COMPUTER/TECHNOLOGY SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and proficiency in the use of software applications including Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). The candidate should also have experience using social media (particularly Facebook and Twitter). Website and/or HTML experience is a plus. General familiarity with use of office equipment such as copiers, printers and scanners is a plus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. TRAVEL Occasional travel to program sites with department staff may be involved.
