PRO Day 1/2 Day Workshop for PRSSA chapters and other PR Students

The PRSA southeastern Wisconsin Chapter is happy to announce that it will again be hosting its annual 1/2 day PRO DAY event for PR students. Its focus is to help educate PR students about the PR industry in southeastern Wisconsin and what it takes to become a successful young professional in it.

The 2014 PRSA PRO Day is being made possible thanks in part to our two event sponsors: Eisner Creative Foundation (ECF) and Big Shoes Network. It will be held on Friday, April 11, at the Milwaukee Hilton, 509 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Downtown Milwaukee .The program will include:

11:30 a.m.-Noon: Networking

Noon-1:30 p.m.: Attending the PRSA Monthly Luncheon with along PR professionals and hearing special guest speaker Nate St. Pierre talking about “Activating the Online Community to Promote Change”

Nate St. Pierre has spent the past 5 years building projects that have literally changed the world. As a pioneer in the concept of micro-giving, he has built and mobilized teams of tens of thousands of people to make a positive personal impact for others. His personal projects have included ItStartsWith.Us, Love Drop, and many others.

Nate is currently the Director of Communications for GiveForward, the largest medical crowdfunding platform in the world, and has also consulted on social strategy with some of the biggest brands in America. He has been featured in dozens of top publications, including The Washington Post, The Atlantic, CNN, Forbes, and Fast Company.

In his presentation, Nate will give all of us a glimpse into some of the powerful things we can each accomplish with the online community by harnessing the talent we already have. He’ll provide tips on how to use the influence we already carry to touch lives and change the world for the better.

1:45-2:30 p.m.: A Resume Critiques and Tips Workshop overseen by volunteers from PRSA’s Young Pros group

2:45 – 3:45 p.m.: Breakouts: Corporate Careers with corporate panelists from Manpower, Kohler Company and Johnson Controls or Agency Careers with panelists from STIR, Mueller Communications and TBD.

4-5 p.m.: Breakouts: Government/Public Sector Careers with panelists from Milwaukee Common Council, Milwaukee County Transit and Wisconsin Department of Tourism and Nonprofit Careers with panelists from the Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee and Independence First

The cost for this 1/2 day program will be $10 for PRSSA members and $20 for general PR Students. Students who attended last year’s PRO Day said they left energized and feeling positive about their future careers in PR.
