It is with heavy hearts we have to inform you Steve Johnstone, APR, PRSA Fellow has died. Johnstone was a former Dorothy Thomas Black Award winner; former PRSA Southeastern Chapter board member, and he was also involved with the Black Public Relations Society. He was a mentor to many.
Johnstone began his career in 1968. He worked for Milwaukee-based advertising-public relations agencies Hoffman York and Bader Rutter. For 21 years, he directed public relations operations for Andrews Mautner and Blue Horse agencies and served as the Falk Group’s executive vice president when the agency started in 2008.
Johnstone provided public relations services for some of the world’s largest corporations including Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Verizon Wireless and Rockwell Automation, in addition to start-up companies, retailers and health care organizations.
